Tactile Cueing Workshop

Tactile cueing can be a powerful teaching tool, helping clients better understand their bodies, movement and alignment through touch. This course explores how to use tactile cues with greater clarity and intention, including how touch can support proprioception and body awareness, how to determine where, when and how to touch, and how to integrate tactile cueing alongside verbal and visual instruction. We will also explore consent, professional boundaries and how to use touch in a way that supports learning and independence rather than simply “correcting” movement.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how touch can support body awareness and movement learning.

  • Apply tactile cues with clear intention, appropriate placement, pressure and direction.

  • Use touch to communicate alignment, movement direction, support, resistance, length and space.

  • Integrate tactile cues effectively with verbal and visual instruction.

  • Recognise when tactile cueing is helpful — and when another approach may be more appropriate.

  • Apply appropriate consent and professional boundaries when using touch.

  • Observe and adapt to individual responses to tactile cueing.

  • Use tactile cues to encourage greater client awareness and independence.
