Our Teachers

As beautiful as our space may be, what makes the Mindful Movement Centre stand out among studios is the quality of instruction we offer. All our teachers combine an active practice of their own with a passion for guiding others and years of professional experience. Personal attention is the norm even in group classes, and many of our instructors have areas of specialization such as injury rehabilitation, professional athletic coaching, the management of chronic health conditions, and pre- and post-natal exercise regimens.

    Leslie Parker

    FOUNDER & STUDIO DIRECTOR
    PILATES, YOGA, & BUDOKON

Leslie Parker is the director of the Mindful Movement Centre, Toronto. A former professional ballet dancer, she has been teaching yoga, Pilates, and body conditioning for more than two decades. She uses her extensive knowledge of different movement forms to teach functional movement, increase flexibility, and treat injury.

Throughout her career with leading ballet companies in the United States and Europe she drew on Pilates to enhance her dance practice and to rehabilitate serious injuries.

The experience of treating her own injuries inspired Leslie to specialise in injury rehabilitation. She brings real expertise and compassion to this work and collaborates with doctors, physiotherapists, athletic therapists, and osteopaths to develop healing programs. Her long career in bodywork has also given her invaluable skills in assessing people’s bodies. Leslie believes the breathwork, relaxation, and infinite kindness contained in yogic teachings complement her Pilates and bodywork skills. Leslie teaches restorative, vinyasa (flow), and Ashtanga yoga.

In 2003 she founded Mindful Movement in London, England, a company that specialised in individual Pilates and Yoga programs. Her clientele (both male and female) included people from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. Athletes, executives, and artists came to Leslie to maintain fitness, reshape their bodies, rehabilitate injuries, and to treat chronic pain and stress. To help her students further their practice, Leslie in 2004 founded Pure Retreats, a travel company that took participants to Morocco, France, Italy, and various places within Great Britain on yoga and Pilates retreats.

Leslie’s love of movement also led her to the practice of Budokon, which she studied under Sensei Jamal Pender and Kancho Cameron Shayne. She has since become a certified Budokon instructor and earned her red belt, as well as her Budokon Yoga certification. She is currently the highest ranking Budokon instructor in Ontario.

Leslie looks forward to welcoming you to the Mindful Movement Centre, where she hopes you will enjoy a friendly and nurturing atmosphere focused on helping you reach optimal levels of fitness and flexibility.

    Aley Laliberté

    MASTER TEACHER
    PILATES & YOGA

Aley found her first love of movement through yoga. As her practice evolved, she decided to complete her yoga teacher training (YTT) and was inspired to leave her corporate career and pursue a career in teaching.

Wanting to learn more about anatomy and alignment through movement, she was introduced to Pilates and completed her mat Pilates teacher training. It was the perfect complement to her teachings and evolved into much more.

She found a great love for the reformer and then for the cadillac, chair and barrel, becoming a fully certified Pilates instructor with Mindful Movement Centre. She is also certified in Functional Range Conditioning (FRC), a comprehensive joint training system.

She loves teaching and connecting with people. She seeks to bring mindfulness and balance in her sessions, and enjoys working on alignment, challenging and supporting her clients, and finding joy in movement. Wherever you are on your movement journey, Aley looks forward to working with you!

    Aniela Amio

    MASTER TEACHER
    PILATES

Aniela describes her classes as “a combination of challenge and fun, hopefully leaving you with a deeper connection to self and a sense of strength and balance.” She is amazed by the healing powers of the body and continues to learn and explore different modalities. Aniela stresses the importance of proper alignment in both Pilates classes and long term over all body health.

Aniela began studying Kundalini yoga with Sat Dharam Kaur and received her Hatha Vinyasas yoga certification from the Yoga Sanctuary.  She further studied restorative, pre-natal and yin yoga.

Her passion for anatomy and healing injuries lead her to Pilates; in 2013 she received her mat certification from Body Harmonics. Since then she has continued to take courses and is currently working towards her reformer certification with MMC director Leslie Parker.

In addition to teaching with a focus on healing and rebalancing the body, Aniela has worked as an actress.  She loved having the chance to play/think/be someone else from time to time. This ability to put herself in someone else’s shoes, as it were, has increased her ability to understand and empathize with her students.

While Aniela began doing yoga early in her career she was motivated by the desire for a ‘great body’. However as she deepened her understanding of these combined disciplines her focus changed to healing and rebalancing ultimately leading to a ‘best body’.

    Robbie Fenton

    TEACHER
    PILATES

Robbie Fenton’s (he/him) curiosity for movement is endless and his bright personality can help push you through his challenging but rewarding classes. As a professional actor and dancer, he has explored his own movement in 101 ways - but he has found himself now settling on a deep love for sharing Pilates, as a tool for that exploration. With his natural ability to create a space that is inherently “come as you are”, Robbie will challenge your perception of what you can or can’t do, as well as being sensitive and highly aware of your personal boundaries and limitations. He believes in fostering a space where we listen deeply to our bodies and ask ourselves important questions pertaining to movement, while also taking a moment to laugh at ourselves and at life. When we drop our personal guards and don’t take ourselves too seriously, we can shine authentically, and our movement might feel like a totally different experience of self-embrace and self-fuel.

    Sydney Temple

    TEACHER
    PILATES, PRE-NATAL PILATES

Sydney is a Toronto-based dance artist, movement instructor, and choreographer. She is a graduate of the Performance Dance Program at Toronto Metropolitan University's School of Performance under the direction of Vicki St. Denys. Sydney brings a love of dance and movement into her Pilates repertoire. This manifests in her work through playful creative sequencing and choreography that challenges both the body and the mind. Her work aims not only to improve strength and flexibility but to aid in moving with more confidence by discovering the beautiful nuances of one’s own body. Sydney is so happy to be a part of the incredible MMC community and cannot wait to share her love of movement with you!
