Stay calm, cool, and collected during the holidays with this mindful meditation exercise.
WHAT IS MINDFULNESS? It’s the ability to be conscious, present, or aware of something.
WHY MEDITATE? To feel calm, reduce anxiety, become focused, improve memory, and heighten awareness.
Step 1: Find a comfortable spot and close your eyes.
Step 2: Inhale through your nose and hold your breath for a few seconds to get the mind’s attention. Release the breath through the mouth. Repeat three times.
Step 3: Observe your natural breath flow in and out for two to ten minutes. Do your best not to judge it and to simply remain the observer rather than the thinker. If any thoughts pop into your mind, observe the thought for a second, then with no judgement, return your awareness to the breath.
